2024 SEASON

Hamilton Football at Loch Raven marks its 24TH year as one of the premier unlimited programs in Maryland.  We are a middle school program designed to prepare young men for the rigors of high school play and academics.

Although Hamilton has gained recognition throughout the area for producing winning teams, its true pride comes from our commitment to academics. We have seen many of our young men move on to attend Baltimore County/City-wide public and private schools, since the implementation of our academic monitoring program ten years ago.  Hamilton alumni are also thriving in great colleges and becoming valuable members of the community.

  • We field 5/6 Flag thru 10U , 6th grade (Freshmen), 7th grade (JV) and 8th grade (Varsity) teams to ensure that all boys can compete at their appropriate level.  Players are placed in positions based on their body type and skill level.

  • All sizes and experience levels are encouraged to become a part of our program, this includes beginners as well as those that have played a number of seasons.

PRACTICE/GAME SCHEDULE

Practices for the 2024 Fall Season will begin in August.  Pre-season practices will be held Tuesday through Friday from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Once school starts, practice will be two nights during the week with most games held on Saturday and ocassionally on Sunday.  There is also a possibility of Friday and Saturday night games, allowing the kids to play "under the lights."  Our first game is traditionally scheduled on the final weekend in August, followed by weekly games thereafter.  A copy of the league schedule will be provided to each player and posted to our team website immediately upon receipt.

The coaching staff is diligent about beginning and ending practices in a timely manner - please make all efforts to have your player's arrive and be picked up during scheduled practice times.  Players are required to be at the specified game fields at least 90 minutes prior to kick-off.

ACADEMIC MONITORING

Athletics will never super-cede academics!  Your son may be held to a higher standard than he is accustomed because we stress to each player that he is a Student-Athlete.  Once school begins, each player will be given a folder containing progress report forms.  The player is required to have their teachers comment on their progress in class each day; this helps to ensure the student is performing to his full potential, and also reinforces the importance of academics in their lives.  Our coaches and staff are here to assist your family in any way possible and often contribute by leveraging their desire to play football to emphasize the importance of good performance at home and school.

SAFETY

The well-being of our players is key and we strive for a fun, but safe environment for all.  Please ensure that your child is properly hydrated before, during and after practices/games.  Frequent water breaks are provided while they are on the field and we encourage them to bring sports drinks as well.  Colder months will require that your player is appropriately dressed for the weather in warm, dry clothing.

Any ailment needs to be brought to the attention of the coaching staff (if your son has Asthma, you will be required to furnish an inhaler to be kept with him while he is on the field).  Also, please report any injuries prior to any activity.

FUNDRAISING/CONCESSIONS

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The support of all families is necessary to keep the program affordable.  Raffles and concessions are important to our success, so each player will be required to sell tickets (incentives and prizes for bulk sales are offered) and we encourage all participating families to donate time helping out at the concession stand.  All funds generated go back directly into the program, helping to offset the season's operational cost.  All donations are tax deductible.

The cost of registration for the 2024 Fall Season is $250.00.  This fee will include a helmet, chinstrap, shoulder pads, game/practice jersey, and belted game/practice pants. A small, refundable deposit is required for the issuance of equipment and all items must be returned after the last game of the season.  Each player will need their own cleats (molded only, no screw-ins) and mouth piece.

ID Cards

All players are required to have a State of Maryland ID card.  Cards must be obtained prior to the start of the season, since they will be checked prior to kick-off of every game (they may be held by your son's coach during the duration of the season).

You will also be asked to show your child's original birth certificate with a raised seal - no photocopies will be accepted.  Please visit The Division of Vital Records at 6550 Reisterstown Rd (located at the Reisterstown Road Plaza), or go to www.vsa.maryland.gov to order a certified copy, if you do not have one.

COMMUNICATION

We use TeamSnap, a free automated system that sends messages to provided email addresses.  This system enables us to provide all players and parents with text and email messages in the event of changes to practice, game, and  miscellaneous event changes.

Football is a team sport; therefore, it is essential that each player attend every practice (contact the head coach if your son requires special arrangements).  Parents are required to notify head coaches prior to any practice, or game absences.

ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Our year is capped off by an annual awards banquet held in the fall post-season (traditionally in January).  It is always a well-attended event that honors the collective and individual achievements of players - it includes a full menu and family/friends are welcomed to attend.
